1. Who is responsible
OpticWatch is developed and operated by Akhzar Javed, an individual. Questions and requests about your information can be sent to [email protected].
2. This website
The website has no accounts, analytics, advertising trackers or non-essential cookies. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process your IP address and request details, and may set a strictly necessary security cookie, to deliver and protect the site. Our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested URL, time, browser details) for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
Downloading the Free edition requires no account, email address or other personal information.
3. Purchases
Pro and Integrator are sold through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects and processes your payment, billing and tax information under its own privacy notice; we never receive your card details. When a purchase completes, Paddle shares with us the purchase email address, Paddle’s customer and transaction identifiers, and what was bought.
4. The licensing service
To deliver and manage licenses, the licensing service stores:
- the purchase email address, the Paddle identifiers above, and the status of the purchase (for example, completed or refunded);
- each license’s identifier and edition, and a one-way hash of its license key with its last four characters. The key itself is not stored and cannot be shown again;
- for each activation, the installation’s random identifier and when it was activated or deactivated;
- for download links, a one-way hash of the link, its expiry, and when and how often it was used;
- a record of operator actions taken on a license.
We use this to email your license and download links, to activate, deactivate and move licenses, to resend links when you ask, to handle refunds, and to prevent misuse. The text of each email is deleted once it has been sent. The service’s own request logs record no IP addresses, license keys or download links.
5. Email
Purchase and download-link emails are sent through our email provider to the address you used at purchase. We send no marketing email. Requesting a new download link always shows the same response, whether or not an address has bought OpticWatch.
6. The self-hosted software
OpticWatch runs on your own infrastructure. Your cameras, stream addresses and credentials, sites, health history, incidents, alert settings and users are stored in your own database and are never sent to us. Stored credentials are encrypted with a key that stays on your server. OpticWatch contains no telemetry, analytics or automatic update checks.
A paid installation contacts the licensing service only when you activate or deactivate a license, sending the license key, the installation’s random identifier and, for deactivation, the activation credential. Free never contacts us. Alerts you configure (email or webhooks) are sent from your server to destinations you choose; they do not pass through us.
7. Who else processes information
Paddle (payments and orders), Cloudflare (website and licensing service delivery), our server hosting provider, and our email provider. Each processes information only to provide its service. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. These providers may process information outside your country.
8. How long we keep it
Purchase and license records are kept for as long as the license exists, and afterwards as long as needed for tax, legal and dispute purposes. Download links expire within 72 hours. Server access logs are kept for a short period, then deleted.
9. Security
License keys, download links and activation credentials are stored only as one-way hashes, and our services are reachable only over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to it. Send requests to [email protected] from your purchase email address. Some records, such as purchase records, may need to be kept to meet legal obligations. For payment information, contact Paddle.
11. Changes
We will update this policy when how we handle information changes; the date above shows the current version.
